Zachary NaPier, MD

dr. zachary napier orthopedic surgeon in roseville california

Meet Dr. NaPier

Dr. NaPier is a Harvard Fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive and motion-preserving surgical techniques that create less post-operative pain, decreased soft tissue injury and blood loss, and faster recovery times. He is also skilled in complex reconstruction of spinal deformities, degenerative conditions, and failed back syndrome.  His practice involves comprehensive clinical and surgical care of adult and adolescent patients.

An avid researcher, Dr. NaPier has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters, and presentations at national and international meetings and has served as a primary or co-investigator on several projects that have been awarded grants from organizations including the Cervical Spine Research Society and Scoliosis Research Society.

“My goal is to evaluate your condition, relieve your pain, and restore your function using the most effective, minimally invasive techniques available,” said Dr. NaPier.  “I will help you to understand your back or neck symptoms and treatment options so that you can make informed decisions regarding your treatment.”

“I am honored by the trust you place in me and my recommendations for your care will be the same that I would make for a member of my own family.”

I was originally going to have my spine surgery with UC DAVIS but decided to get a second opinion. I am so glad I did! Dr. Napier is a phenomenal surgeon. His procedure was less invasive than what was originally going to be done and my recovery time was almost non existent. Spine surgery is scary. I had an artificial disk inserted in between my L5 and S1 thru my abdomen. Then I had two rods and four screws inserted in my back. I am 8 weeks post op and feel better than I ever have before. All pain is gone, I'm bending and twisting, AND I'm living a much healthier life now. I am blown away by my results and I can't thank Dr. Napier enough for what he's done for me. If you are looking to have spinal surgery, I would recommend Sierra Spine Institute 100%! Everyone is kind, caring and supportive and the process was so easy. Thank you so so so much Dr. Napier!!!!

I had, what I think is normal, hesitations about getting surgery. What if something went wrong? But, I basically was not walking more than a couple of very painful yards and was wheel chair confined. Dr. Napier really listened to my concerns. He didn't rush. First, we tried non-surgical alternatives, which worked for a bit. However, it became apparent, a longer term solution was needed. He was very optimistic surgery would help. He explained, in a very easy to understand language, what would happen, what to expect and the potential side effects. The shooting pain was gone immediately after surgery. I did have pain from the surgery itself but was much better after a week. Now, 2 months later, I am pain free. I was mentally prepared to be disabled for the rest of my life. It is a miracle and Dr. Napier is the miracle worker. Thank goodness he went into this profession.

Dr. NaPier has been attentive to ALL of my concerns pre-surgery, and questions I have had post-surgery and his staff is on top of the entire case as we go through each phase of my recovery. He and his staff are really concerned about what one feels and how it will be approached to help the issue. I appreciate everything they have helped me with and look forward to a full recovery. I had my surgery Nov 8, 22....2weeks ago tomorrow and I feel improvements already. Thank you Dr. NaPier and Staff!!!!

Life Savers! All I could do was lay in bed getting weaker by the day. Every move was lighting bolts shooting down my legs. When Dr. Napier looked at my MRI scans he immediately had me admitted to the hospital for surgery the following day. It's only been 5 weeks. Those lightning bolts are gone. Each day is better than the last. The surgical site is tiny and healing fast. The pain from the surgery is gone and sciatic is hardly noticeable.THANK YOU ! ! !

I highly recommend the Sierra Spine Institute. They are professional, caring, and experts at these procedures. Dr. NaPier performed my lumbar spine surgery almost two weeks ago and the procedure went flawlessly. I am 61 years old and my spine was very unstable and the nerve tunnel compromised. Recovery was rough, but I survived and I'm very happy to have my back fixed and stabilized. I still have a way to go for full recovery but I'm so happy and looking forward to having my life back and being able to enjoy the activities I enjoy with my friends and loved ones. Right now I am able to do several PT walks a day and many activities around the house with a few restrictions (no bending, lifting, or twisting) but there are many methods to still get things done safely, and that feels wonderful.

I will be forever thankful and grateful for the experienced professional staff at Sierra Spine Institute. More specifically I appreciate and am thankful to Dr. NaPier for his extraordinary skills as a surgeon and to me more importantly his recognizing my situation was urgent. There is no doubt he saved me from paralysis and a wheelchair for my remaining years. Thank you all! A special thanks to the 2nd floor Nursing Staff at 5 Medical Plaza.

Struggled for months with nerve pain and numbness. Currently 7 weeks post op after disc replacement surgery and I couldn’t be more happy that I finally had the surgery. I have little to no pain at this point, great mobility, and am working with a physical therapist to get my strength back. Dr. Napier was very thorough, kind, and professional. I highly recommend him if you are in need of a spinal surgeon. In addition, Bradie and Raha who work in the office were also wonderful and went above and beyond.

I had a previous laminectomy eight years earlier and the compressed nerve root still remained in another vertebrae. Dr. NaPier listened to me and my complicated health challenges with diabetes and other issues and together we made a decision about the best surgical approach to take. I admired his expertise and his conservative approach to my surgery and recovery. Good communication is very important to me and both the doctor and the entire team at the office kept me informed, involved, and feeling respected. Expertise with empathy and understanding...Thank you!
